I’m not sure about the magnesium citrate, i have taken it before and no one warned me about cramping up. but then again i have chronic pain and maybe they figured I’m already hurting anyway. but I had it through IV, so maybe that’s different. but i DO have answer about the milkshakes. liquids are actually split into 2 categories. clear liquids and full liquids. clear liquids are things you can see through (obviously): water, juice, tea, sprite, jello, broth. and then there are full liquids such as milk, shakes, smoothies, usually apple sauce. but here’s the thing, when they say liquids they mean clears. they need it to be easily absorbed by your digestive system and it needs to go through easily. before surgery, once you are on liquids its clears only. i know you’re hungry..I’m so sorry, but i feel your pain! i was on clear liquids for 6 weeks! no fun. sorry i wasn’t much help with the magnesium question! good luck with the surgery!
