Health food stores, drug stores, and supermarkets carry a wide variety of different natural food supplements. Health benefit claims made by manufacturers should be based on extensive research, development, and use in traditional healing. It is important to note, that some manufacturers make false promises of the properties of natural food supplements. This is unfortunate, because the only intentions of these businesses have is to abuse customers searching for relief to various health conditions.
Many conservative organizations then point to these few unsubstantiated products, and label the whole industry as unreliable. It doesnt count if the supplement has been used for centuries and certain health benefits are undeniable. Later on, the same products have been discovered by researchers deemed acceptable by these organizations, and at that point the products are widely medically endorsed. It is important to be an informed consumer.
Natural food supplements can be used to aid in digestive problems, add certain nutrients to diet, and to aid metabolic processes. They may have an active ingredient to aid in health problems. In this list are some natural food supplements, which have been recommended for use in dealing with various disorders.

Vitamins D is a fat-soluble seco-sterol hormone precursor that is responsible for sustaining optimal levels of calcium and phosphorus in our blood stream. To some extent, Vitamin D is manufactured by our skin though exposure to sunlight. The best time for sunlight exposure is during the spring and fall seasons.. Winter sunlight is too weak for the production of Vitamin D. Many of us do not get enough exposure to sunlight during the year. We have been convinced that the sun is not good for our skin, so when we are exposed to sun we have come to use clothing and sun screen to “protect” ourselves from the sun. Most of us spend most of our time indoors. These factors have resulted in making Vitamin D deficiency a common if not major health problem. It has also been found that older people and many younger women, especially African-American women, and those who live in Northern climates with less time exposure to sunlight are at risk for Vitamin D deficiency.

BACKACHE Treatment
By Jeanne Rose
INTRODUCTION:
Years ago I had chronic back pain. At times I was unable to walk correctly as my leg would buckle from the pain that radiated down my back. At that time, during the days that I lived in Big Sur, surgery was recommended to fuse some vertebrae to alleviate the pain. Eventually, with the help of others who suffered back pain, I devised a formula to treat backache. In all cases where it was consistently used, the pain and disabling effects disappeared.
Exercise is the key. However, wait until back pain subsides before beginning your exercise program. The stomach muscles must be strengthened in order to support the weak back. Many excellent exercise books describe the exercises to strengthen a back. The simplest is one in which you lie upon a firm surface with your back pressed flat against the surface, knees bent. Draw one knee up to the chest, turn the leg, knee to the outside and lay it flat as possible alongside the body and slowly straighten the leg until both legs are parallel. Do this ten times on each side twice a day. Walk as much as possible – use comfortable appropriate shoes. Sitting is the worst thing you can do. If your job requires lots of sitting, get up, stretch at least every thirty minutes, and always keep knees higher than hips. Never place feet flat on floor – use a stool for feet to raise your knees.

Feeling lost when the topic shifts to essential fatty acids? Are “Omega-3″ and “Omega-6″ Greek to you? If so, then it’s important that you take a moment to read up on these dietary requirements and ensure that you’re getting everything you need for optimal performance. It may be easier than you think!
The first category of fatty acids is called Linoleic Acid (LA), which falls into the poly-unsaturated category. The second is called Alpha Linolenic Acid (LNA), also from the poly-unsaturated category but sometimes referred to as “super-unsaturated” because of its extremely low melting point.

Phenylalanine: The phenylalanine is an essential amino acid. It is not synthesized in the body but in the micro-organism it is synthesized where one molecule of D-erythrose-4 phosphate and two molecules of phosphot-enolpyruvic acid are required. Metabolic breakdown of phenylalanine lead to formation of tyrosine, phenyl acetic acid, phenyl lactic acid, and tissue protein in separate reactions.
The phenylalanine gets first converted to tyrosine by phenylalanine hydroxylase. One of the major hereditary metabolic disorder called phenylketonuria impairs this conversion is hyperpheylalaninemia i.e. mental retardation. This is due to absence of the enzyme phenylalanine oxidase responsible for this conversion, causing defective mental development in children and a high plasma phenylalanine and its increased excretion in urine.

Methionine: Methionine, cysteine, and cystine are the sulphur containing amino acids of the body. All are glycogenic. Methionine is essential amino acid, whereas the cysteine and cystine are not. Methionine is amino-methyl-thiobutyric acid. This is to be given in diet, or can be substituted with its corresponding keto acids, which cannot be synthesized in the body but on amination gives rise to methionine. The methionine can be synthesized in the micro-organism by methylating the homocysteine.
Three amino acids methionine, arginine, and glycine are directly involved in synthesis of cretine. First arginine and glycine help in formation of glycocyamine in kidney, which then is methylated by active methionine in the liver to complete the synthesis of creatine.

Some people think that getting over-the-counter supplements like Vitamin C and Vitamin E are enough for daily living. But besides the guarantees given by these vitamins, it is better if you consider mineral supplements with it instead. Yes, there is a difference between taking vitamins alone than when you consider an intake of vitamin mineral supplements. The terms may be somewhat confusing so before proceeding to the essence of taking vitamins and minerals all together, it is best to define these two terms.
Vitamins are defined as organic substances that are essential to nutrition. They can be taken in small quantities and are often found in the food you eat. Some vitamins are also produced by the body but the most popular vitamins you may know of are those that can be bought from drugstores. From these features of vitamins, you may now see why it is best to have vitamin mineral supplements than vitamins alone. To convince you further, take a look at what minerals are all about.
